Things to do when you have a layover at Heathrow

Heathrow is one of the most common airports for passengers to experience layovers between flights.  The good news is that Britain’s busiest airport is well equipped with everything needed to fulfil your time before you board your next journey. Here are just a few of our favourite options…

Head into London

With tube stations in terminals 2 and 3, Heathrow airport is well served with public transport which can whisk you into Central London in under one hour. Once you’re here, you are spoilt for choice with things to do. Popular landmarks to see include The Shard, Buckingham Palace and Tower Bridge. If sightseeing isn’t your thing or you’re feeling a little tired after your flight then why not kick back, relax and enjoy a show at the West End? Popular performances include Mamma Mia and the Lion King. There’s also the Woman in Black and Hamlet if musical theatre doesn’t float your boat. The capital city is also brimming with art galleries, museums and public gardens which are free to enter. You’ll certainly not be bored if you choose to head into Central London, just do make sure you designate enough time to get back to the airport before your flight. Heathrow airport tube stations are in Travel Zone 1, with tickets to Zone 1 (Central London) costing £6 per single journey.

The terminals also have idyllic boutique stores, in which you escape the bustles of Duty-Free and take a more relaxed approach to shopping, here you’ll be able to pick up designer gear as well as more affordable clothing.
